Position Summary:

Casual Child and Youth Counselors are required in the Section 23 Day Treatment Programs: Steps-to-Success, Back-on-Track and Centre Ado du Millénium. The Child and Youth Counselor is a member of a multi-disciplinary team that operates from a strengths based model of care. Our Section 23 Day Treatment Programs aim to build on each youth’s strengths and talents to assist them in returning to their community school. , The programs are located within local schools: Back-on-Track at Immaculata High Shool (140 Main Street), Steps-to-Success at St. Luke’s (2485 Dwight Crescent) and Centre Ado (500 Millenium Boulevard).

Job Description:

•  Establish and maintain a therapeutic milieu within the school program using a collaborative problem-solving approach (CPS) and attachment focused therapy model.
•  Provide clinical interventions through individual and group sessions to respond to the needs of youth in the program and their families.
•  Develop and maintain programming in consultation with other team members.
•  Participate in multi-disciplinary care planning using CPS and Outcomes Management approaches
•  Participate in Team meetings
•  Establish and maintain positive relationships with school boards and other clinical providers
•  Perform other related duties as required
•  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•  Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
•  Graduate of a three year college program in Child and Youth Counselling (Essential)
•  Eligible for certified membership in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counselors or RFTESO (Essential) 
•  Experience working in a Section 23 Day Treatment Program (Preferred)
•  Experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) and Attachment Focused Therapy model (Preferred)
•  Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in children and youth (Essential)
•  Certification in CPR and First Aid (Essential)
•  Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills (Essential)
•  Bilingualism (French and English) (Essential AND Preferred) (one of the 3 programs is a francophone program)

Le conseiller ou la conseillère auprès des enfants et des adolescents est membre d’une équipe multidisciplinaire qui fonctionne selon un modèle de soins basé sur les points forts. Nos programmes de traitement de jour de la Section 23 visent à s’appuyer sur les forces et les talents de chaque jeune pour les aider à réintégrer l’école de leur communauté. Les programmes sont situés dans les écoles locales : Back-on-Track au lycée Immaculata (140, rue Main), Steps-to-Success à St Luke (2485, Dwight Crescent) et Centre Ado (500, boulevard Millenium).

Description du travail

•  Établir et maintenir un milieu thérapeutique au sein du programme scolaire en utilisant une approche collaborative de résolution conjointe de problèmes (RCP) et un modèle de thérapie axé sur l’attachement.
•  Fournir des interventions cliniques par le biais de séances individuelles et de groupe pour répondre aux besoins des jeunes du programme et de leurs familles.
•  Élaborer et maintenir le programme en consultation avec les autres membres de l’équipe.
•  Participer à la planification des soins multidisciplinaires en utilisant les approches RCP et de gestion des résultats.
•  Participer aux réunions de l’équipe.
•  Établir et maintenir des relations positives avec les conseils scolaires et autres fournisseurs cliniques.
•  Accomplir d’autres tâches telles qu’assignées. 

Qualifications

•  Vérification des antécédents en vue d’un travail auprès de personnes vulnérables (Essentiel)
•  Diplôme d’un programme universitaire de trois ans en conseil auprès des enfants et des adolescents (Essentiel)
•  Admissibilité à l’adhésion à l’Association ontarienne des conseillers à l’enfance et à la jeunesse ou à RFTESO (Essentiel)
•  Expérience de travail dans un programme de traitement de jour de la Section 23 (Préférable)
•  Expérience en thérapie cognitivo-comportementale (TCC), en résolution conjointe de problèmes (RCP) et en modèle de thérapie axée sur l’attachement (Préférable)
•  Connaissance des troubles psychiatriques chez les enfants et les adolescents (Essentiel)
•  Certification en RCP et en premiers secours (Essentiel)
•  Solides compétences en relations interpersonnelles, communication et travail d’équipe (Essentiel)
•  Bilinguisme (français et anglais) (essentiel ET préférable) (un des 3 programmes est un programme francophone)
